Help & recovery
Two separate ways to protect your information
Your account sign-in and additional verification let you manage your account. Your vault password opens your files and notes on your device. Recovering account access does not unlock your vault.
Recovering a vault
If you saved the separate vault recovery key, you can use it after signing in to set a new vault password. If you have your access pack, you can use the delayed owner-recovery route. Current subscription rules still apply. Support cannot recover secrets or override account verification.
When someone requests access
The owner’s selected delay is recorded when the request starts. The default is seven days. We attempt email notifications, but delivery or acknowledgement is not required for eligibility. Eligible owners can cancel requests or revoke access. This is a delayed-access service, not a service that verifies death or legal authority.
Keep a clear handover
After unlocking your vault, open Sharing & access and save the printable access pack. It contains a private QR code, a link, the complete access code and instructions. Keep it with your important documents, separate from your recovery key. Anyone who obtains the pack can request your vault.
Using a pack someone left you
Scan the QR with your phone camera or open the private link. Sign in with your own account and complete verification, then review the waiting period and price. Starting a request is free. Keep the pack: you will need it again to open the files after the wait and payment. If a browser session closes or the pack times out, open it again. You can also sign in, choose Shared with me, then paste the code or complete link into Use an access pack.
Recipient access
There is no charge to begin a request. Eligible recipients choose whether to pay for 90 days of access to the current collection. The owner can still remove information or end access. A completed copy in your own vault is independent.
Multiple vaults
Your plan supplies one storage allowance shared across all your vaults. Free trial and Basic include one vault, Plus two, Extended five and Max one hundred. If a plan change reduces your vault limit, the newest excess vaults are locked for owner access. Existing recipient access continues under its own terms.
Deletion and subscription expiry
When non-payment or excess storage restricts owner access, you can clear vault contents or delete your whole account after fresh verification without opening the contents. Other owner vault actions remain blocked. Normal access returns when your entitlement is active and total storage fits your plan. Previously paid accounts normally retain information for 12 months after suspension, subject to applicable protection. Trial accounts have a separate 60-day deadline. Explicit deletion overrides retention protection.
